Adventure Tourism is gaining momentum in Karnataka. With participation of the public sector new initiatives are being taken up to promote adventure tourism across the State. A Bangalore based adventure tour company, Amazing Global Journeys is organising an International Adventure Tourism show called 'Traits' 2008'. The event is supported by Karnataka Tourism, Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) and the Karnataka Mountaineering Association.

The three-day event will see adventure associations, institutes, clubs, travel agencies, tour operators, publications and manufacturers of related products such as hiking equipment participating in the exhibition.

"Traits 2008 "is going to showcase adventure tourism products and services. It will invite a tremendous business opportunity and will bring awareness to the people on adventure tourism in the region. As per the analysis by the industry chamber PHDCCI, adventure tourism in india will emerge as one of the biggest foreign exchange earners and can generate 20 Billion US Dollars by 2010.

Explaining the idea behind organising this exhibition, Krishna V Prasad, Director, AmazingGlobalJourneys said, "While adventure tourism has gained popularity in North India, there is little awareness about the potential of adventure tourism activities in South India. By hosting this exhibition, we are looking at increasing awareness about adventure tourism among prospective travellers, such as IT professionals, students etc."
